Wider Consulting was founded by Russell Seaborne, a South African-born, Edmonton-based accountant whose career has taken him from the corridors of small churches to the boardrooms of venture capital firms.

Russell holds a BCom Accounting from the University of Pretoria and a BCompt Honours (Accounting) from the University of South Africa (UNISA). He began his professional life in Pretoria, running his own tax practice serving 25-30 clients before emigrating to Canada in 2012.

After working as a Business Analyst at CT Logics Inc., Russell spent nine years as Executive Pastor at Enjoy Life Church International in Edmonton — overseeing all administrative and financial operations, and helping to establish and structure several other church organisations along the way. That season shaped a deep understanding of how good financial systems can free an organisation to focus on its actual mission.

Wider Consulting grew out of those relationships. What started with non-profits and churches expanded through referrals into venture capital, private equity, and, most recently, into the technology sector. Russell now works closely with Government Frameworks Inc., supporting a company that delivers governance software to local governments worldwide.

The through-line is simple: get the numbers right, keep things simple, and serve people well.
